Looking for a place to discover in a warm and engaging way the real Jesus of the Bible? Unfortunately, centuries of tradition and Church councils and yes, even persecutions, seem to have buried him from our sight in the tomb again. On that first resurrection morning Mary Magdalene complained, "They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him" (John 20: 2).
Today that cry of the heart is echoed by a sad and thirsty humanity. It seems the living Lord has been buried from our sight by myriads of denominational creeds and interpretations.
Can Jesus ever rise again to be heard in all of his transforming truth, love and power? Or must he remain forever buried beneath the rubble of a failed system that claims his name but refuses to listen to his life-transforming Gospel word? One thing is for sure. We need a new touch of Heaven as the storm clouds of this dark world gather more threateningly in these end times.
I invite you to come with me and honestly investigate the Jesus of the Bible. I love him with all my heart and with all my mind. It is through hearing the Bible Jesus that I have found the Living and true God he came to wonderfully reveal. God the Father commands us, "This is My beloved Son, Hear him!" But I warn you, There will be surprises. Are you ready? Good. Let's go!
Anybody who claims to represent the Bible Jesus must look like Jesus and sound like Jesus. We are all sick and tired of a "plasticine Jesus' who has been poked and prodded into all kinds of shapes to suit our own creeds and designs. Jesus himself warns there will be "false christs". The Bible warns there are "antichrists". Paul the apostle was even afraid some of the early Christians might turn from the real Jesus to "another Jesus". (2 Cor. 11:3-4).
And who can ignore his clear warning not to let anyone "delude you with persuasive arguments" so you are "taken captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ" (Col. 2: 4,8)?
This is a small web site under construction. As time goes by, I hope to cover a wide range of issues and topics as they affect us. My primary focus will be to examine Who the God of the Bible is and who Jesus Christ is, and what his life and teaching were all about, But there are articles about Bible prophecy and End Times events. (The Bible has a 100% accuracy record when it comes to predicting future events!). There will be articles about a wide range of Bible subjects … devotional, instructional, national, personal and relational. That should just about cover whatever you are interested in!
So let's hear the words and the teachings of Jesus himself. Let's hear Jesus' own commentary, In the words of God Himself when Jesus was baptised in the Jordan River, "This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased … Hear Him!"
It's hard to let new evidence overturn well-worn patterns of thought. Remember the notorious refusal by some churchmen to look through Galileo's telescope? They were committed to Aristotelian theory. After all, "everybody believed" the world was flat, the earth was the centre of the galaxy, and this was the way the universe worked. Their refusal to accept the implications of new evidence was too much to face. There was just no way their paradigm could be false, notwithstanding all the evidence to the contrary!
I understand how difficult it is to change our way of looking at things. Well-worn ruts where the majority' go and where we ourselves have long travelled are comfortable. None of us likes to admit we got things wrong and especially when it comes to matters of 'the Faith' which is our faith.
However, we must understand that if our faith cannot stand up to honest investigation and scrutiny then it is not much of a faith. The Bible definition of faith is not whatever takes our fancy or whatever we can 'believe in the dark'. against the evidence. Bible faith is revealed faith. God has spoken in propositional terms meant to be comprehended and acted upon. If our faith is not grounded on objective and verifiable testimony and evidence, then the first bit of persecution or honest probing will topple our castle. In fact, God himself tells us to, "test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves!" (2 Cor. 13:5). Again, "Prove all things; hold fast to that which is good" (1 Thess. 5:21). Again, "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world" (1 John 4:1).
So, it is not wrong to "test" and "prove" your faith. It actually pleases God when we do! And it could be dangerous to our spiritual health and destiny not to! God's Truth has nothing to fear from honest investigation. Light does not fear the light! If our paradigm does not fit the Bible Jesus it's time for a re-think!
To my immense personal surprise I discovered that what I thought was "orthodox" and in line with Jesus and his apostles, was in drastic need of an overhaul. Initially not a pleasant discovery, but oh, afterwards what peaceable and joyful fruit it has yielded! You be the judge. No, rather, why not let the words of Jesus be the judge?
